The technical quality of the movie is just ok -- not bad, but not great either. My main complaint is that this movie did not do justice to the book it was based on -- "American Guerrilla In the Philippines" by Ira Wolfert. The book is brilliant - full of humor, pathos and excitement, written in a fresh, lean style that puts Hemingway to shame/5(52).   The authors, Bernard Norling and Robert Lapham, provide a detailed look at guerrilla life in the archipelago of the Philippines during WWII. Bernard is a professor of history and taught at Notre Dame for 35 years. His encyclopedic knowledge coupled with that of the Commander, Luzon Guerrilla Armed Forces, (LGAF), Robert Lapham is quite Pages:

Behind Japanese Lines has a great deal to say about the relations with the Filipinos and about the problems of dealing with and fighting the Hukbalahaps, the communist guerrillas or, indeed, in opposing the Japanese. This book adds considerable insights into the significance of guerrilla warfare as it relates to modern warfare in general. This WW II actioner is based upon the adventures of Navy Lt. I.D. Richardson who with his fellow sailors refused to succumb to the Japanese who overtook 67%.
